The archive of Estelle Ritchie (1913-2001) offers an invaluable opportunity to examine the life and career of one of Kean's most creative people. Ritchie was an actress, an English professor and a writer who continued working in all three fields even after retiring from academia. Her life is celebrated today by the many students who have received Estelle Ritchie Endowed Scholarships in English and Theatre. Her story is found in her full-length and one-act plays; her novel and short stories; her many journals; her scrapbooks, letters, headshots and informal personal pictures; and in the many programs from acting jobs she had from New England to North Carolina to the mid-west. She was the kind of model and mentor all students can learn from--this is the legacy she has left us.
